North Miami Middle School Hazard Mitigation Retrofit

Project Address: North Miami, Florida

Owner: Miami Dade County Public Schools

Construction Type: Hazard Mitigation Retrofit

Project Description: Upgrade existing facility for use as a hurricane shelter. This fast track project consisted of removing existing exterior windows, reduce window openings with cast in place concrete, and install new impact resistant windows for entire school (over 350 windows). Tie-down reinforcement of all rooftop equipment to comply with wind uplift requirements. The challenge for this project was performing entire work in (8) weeks instead of (22) weeks per contract. Due to overcrowding of school the school board requested to perform fast track work during summer recess.

Testimonial: "No construction project is without problems along the way but SA Consultants had the ability and took the initiative to resolve problems as they arose. The staff and subcontractors were sensitive to the education process and went above and beyond the expected to achieve a successful project which was completed on time and within budget.
This firm is one of the best firms I have worked with in my 40 year career."
